Apple loses the smartphone war to Samsung

Stephen Wozniak, Apple Inc. co-founder, says in the interview for German Wirtschafts Woche Magazine that the American company – in spite of astounding results in the smartphone market – loses the market supremacy war to South Korean Samsung.

“In my point of view, Apple is backward in the smartphone market by the volume of functionality. It is for now left behind by its rivals. And as we know, Samsung is Apple’s great rival because it produces really excellent devices”, - was said by Wozniak in response to a request to comment on the latest Apple sales results.

According to the recent data of Strategy Analytics, the Apple’s distribution increased up to 46% in 2012 – they sold almost 136 mln devices and had 19% of market share. Samsung also improved its leading position with 30% of market share and 213 mln smartphones sold worldwide.

“Millions and millions of Apple fans still trust the company, and we have to work harder to justify their hopes”, - said Mr. Wozniak.
